For those of you who are not that experienced at role-playing, hopefully these guidelines will help you out a bit. It might also be useful for experienced members to give them a quick read to remind yourselves of certain rules to consider when role-playing.
NB.As this is primarily a roleplaying forum, users should take care not to roleplay on behalf of other members. It is up to each user to control their character and no-one elses. You may mention another characters reaction (e.g. a facial expression) but should not roleplay their movements or speech
- All speech needs to be in speech marks.
- Anything written out of character within a RP thread should be written in double brackets e.g. ((OOC:.......))
- All posts should contain some sort of thoughts and feelings rather than just a couple of words.
e.g. the following is a bad example of role-play:
*Sarah walked in and threw her book on the floor.*
This does not say much about what is wrong with Sarah. Why does she throw her book on the floor? Where has she walked in to?
Try writing something more to the affect of:
*Sarah entered the library, she wasn't in a particularly good mood because of an incident with her Chemistry teacher earlier that day. Throwing her book down onto the floor, she slumped into a chair...*
All posts should be a reasonably good length. Try to write more than just a few words. - Using text language is strictly forbidden. How do you expect people to understand what you're saying if you write:
jst wlkd in2 rm, u k?
Proper English must be used at all times. This includes spelling things correctly. Having the odd incorrect letter doesn't make that much of a difference to someone reading it but if the entire word is mixed up then no-one will know what you are trying to say. Using the spell checking facility at the bottom of the "Reply" box can aid you in this area.
